The Fortnightly Updates

Yes. I'm guilty...for not updating the blogs more often...but later is better than never, alright? I'll set a target for myself - go for at least a weekly update. But, next weekend we're heading back to Muar...So, I guess I can only do it AFTER next week (what an excuse!) Ha.

To conclude what has Chey girl been up to for the past weeks, first of all, I noticed that Chey girl has becoming more alert to the surrounding and more interested in adults' conversation, and seems that she understand what we are trying to tell her...Just this morning, she woke up early and was doing fine (not making much noise but entertaining herself by pulling my hair *__* ) until I asked her, ' you want nei nei (milk)?"..that's when she suddenly make so much noise and cried out loud (maybe I shouldn't offer her milk, hehe). So I think she understand me. Another time, when she was in the walker (yeah, she loves to be inside a walker), she rolled from one end of the living room to another end just for an *empty* milk bottle!! Haha..it goes to show how much she LOVES to drink milk!

Got this "magic handle" for her. Supposingly to train babies on holding a cup/bottle at very young age (6+ months) so they know how to hole it better and earlier?! Another money-making idea from manufacturer?

Do all babies love playing with curtains at some point of their life?? Apparently she can be entertained for quite some time by just waving the curtain. You must hear the laughters that she make by doing so.

 Ben: Come to daddy, girl
Chey: Here I come, daddy!

*Distracted* hmm...who's that cute baby playing in MY excersaucer?
Ehh..Let's go and ask daddy to take my toy back from that baby!

Chey girl is mobile! That's when she realised life isn't just lying on bed, being carried around / pushed around in stroller! Now we must hide our newspapers/ magazines/ flyers/ brouchers..etc...she loves to grab them from table/ sofa or wherever she can reach and chew on them (fiber supplement, maybe?).

Okla, till then!

The First Solid Food

As recommended by WHO, babies should be fed exclusively on breastmilk for the first 6 months. So, we've waited almost 6 months before giving Chey solids.
Btw, ah-hem...actually we've mixed in some brown rice powder in her milk when she was about 5 months...does it count?

Her "official" first taste of solids was on 22-May...and I'm going to share some recipe here...

The very first solids:
Cereal + Infant formula + Vege/brown rice soup
1. Healthy Times Mixed Grain Cereal for baby
2. Half scoop of infant formula
3. Vege soup (make with chinese spinach + carrots + brown rice)

Other solids that she'd tried so far:

Apple + Pear (steamed) puree
Cereal + Smashed potato + Green peas
Cereal + Infant Formula + Smashed Sweet potato

Last Tuesday, she's been "upgraded" from cereal to porridge. So I've prepared porridge for her this weekend. I call it the "all-in-one" super delicious porridge, double-boiled for 2 hours.

"All-In-One" Super Delicious Porridge
White rice cook in ikan bilis soup with the following items added:
Cherry tomato
Fish (smashed)
Pork (not to be eaten)
Finely sliced green vege (Chinese spinach)
Finely sliced carrot
Organic tofu
Dry scallops
Wolfberries

I can see that Chey can't have enough of the porridge. It's worth the efforts!

Recent Activities

Sorry mummy has been quite busy recently (when is mummy not busy?)...so let's have a "consolidated" post of the recent highlighted activities...hehe

1) Swim, swim swim (23-May, Sunday)
The swimming tub + neck float is one of the items in the "wishlist" (Yup, mummy's wishlist). Finally we've decided to get it 2 weekend ago from a nice mummy at a reasonably affordable price. The best thing is, everything in the package are well kept and they're as good as new!

  Second swimming lesson
She doesn't look as excited as the first time though

"Smart" daddy takes this opportunity to bathe Chey...
That's how she completed the evening bath for that day

2) Barbecue @ East coast park (15-May, Saturday)
It's supposed to be a BBQ cum chalet stayover but we were there quite late so we only mananged to stay there for couple hours, and most of the time we were at the air-con room upstairs with big kids and small kids. Btw, this was the official date of Cheyenne and Schuyler...
Schuyler greets Cheyenne

Wonders whether this is how babies communicate...

3) Discover the softest and driest diaper in the land (28-May, Friday)
I know Chey girl is probably too young for this competition, but who said we didn't have fun?

All ready for the game

Posed as a "Queen"

Da-lah! Cute enough to win the first prize?
($3k + iPhone + 1 year drypantz supply..wow)

4) Drypers Happy Mummy and Me contest (29-May, Saturday)
Another Drypers contest organize by Young Parants. Mummy figures out that one way to save money is to participate as many competitions as possible in hope to win some prize...wahaha

This is the photo I submitted for the contest.
Notice the oversized (XL) drypers?! Hehe...

Frankly, all the mummies and babies in the contest pictures look so happy, wonder how they choose the winners??

5) Others...

Me in my Excersaucer...

This thing can keep Chey busy for quite a while, free us from doing other things like eating dinner, cleaning bottles, preparing her meal..etc..so overall, I would say this one was a  "money-well-spent"!

Chey can hold her own bottle quite stadily..another milestone reached?

All ready for solids

The booster chair is one of the gifts that we received in the full month party. Turn out it's one of the most practical gifts that we've got.
